The short version
- Your patterns, bracelets, notes, photos and threads stay on your phone. We have no copy of them.
- There is no account, no sign-in and no advertising.
- We never sell your data or use it to track you across other apps.
- Two things leave your phone, through Google Firebase: crash reports, and counts of how the app is used. Neither says who you are. They help us fix bugs and see which features are worth improving.
1Who we are
Bracelet Diary is made by Code Works OOD, Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the data described here.
For any question about your privacy, write to us.
2What stays on your phone
Everything you put into the app is kept only in the app’s own storage on your device:
- your patterns, lists and the bracelets you knit, with their progress and knitting time
- notes and the photos you add to a bracelet
- your thread box and any brands you create
- monthly goals and settings
We run no server for this data and never see it. If you delete the app, it is gone, unless you made a backup.
If your phone backs up its apps (iCloud on iPhone, Google backup on Android), that backup can include Bracelet Diary. It is kept in your own Apple or Google account, under their terms, and we cannot see it.
Photos and the camera
The app asks for the camera or your photos only when you add a photo, and it only gets the photos you pick. When you scan a pattern from a picture, the picture is read on your phone and is never uploaded.
Files you share
A diary backup (.bdiary), a shared pattern (.bdpattern) or a printable PDF is made only when you ask for one, and goes only where you send it. A backup holds your whole diary, photos included, so keep it somewhere you trust. A shared pattern holds only the design.
3What leaves your phone
The app sends two kinds of reports to Google Firebase. Neither one includes your name, your email, your patterns, notes, photos or thread numbers.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
When the app crashes or hits a serious error, it sends a report so we can find and fix the cause.
- What
- The technical trace of the error, the time it happened, technical details about your device (like its model and system version), the app version, and a random ID for this install of the app.
- Why
- To find and fix what makes the app crash.
- Kept for
- 90 days.
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The app counts which screens are opened and for how long, and actions like these:
- a pattern created or scanned
- an editor tool used
- a bracelet started or finished
- a photo added
- a thread added (only its brand, like DMC)
- a list created
- a backup made or opened
- a pattern shared or printed
- a goal set
- the Pro screen opened
- whether Pro is on
- Also recorded
- A random ID for this install of the app, your device model, system version, app version and language, when the app is first opened, updated or removed, how long it is in use, in-app purchases (the product and its price), and your approximate location (country, region and city), worked out from your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored.
- Never recorded
- Your advertising ID or any other ID used to follow you between apps. Advertising features are switched off, and the data is not used for ads.
- Why
- To learn which parts of the app are used, and where people get stuck, so we know what to improve.
- Kept for
- At most 14 months. After that, only totals that cannot be tied to any install remain.
4Google as our processor
Firebase is a service of Google. Google handles these reports for us, as our processor, under the Firebase and Google Analytics data processing terms. The data may be stored on servers in the United States. Such transfers are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, under which Google is certified, and by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
You can read more in Privacy and Security in Firebase and in Google’s Privacy Policy.
5Buying Pro
Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment under their own privacy policies. We never see your card or your account details. The app only learns whether Pro is active on your device.
6Children
Bracelet Diary is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. The app never asks for a name, an email or any other details, and the reports above cannot tell us who anyone is.
7Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to ask for access to your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, and to complain to a data protection authority.
The app never needs any personal details from you to work. Nothing here is used to make automated decisions about you.
What is on your phone is fully in your hands: you can change it, export it or delete it in the app at any time.
The reports sent to Firebase carry no name or contact, only a random ID that the app cannot show you, so we usually cannot tell which reports are yours. Deleting the app removes that ID, and a new install starts with a new one. If you write to us, we will help as far as we can and answer within one month.
8Security
Your diary is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read. Reports to Firebase are sent over an encrypted connection.
9Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data in a new way, we will update this page and the date at the top. For a significant change, we will also say so in the app’s release notes.
